You can connect to the internet either using a dial-up modem or by using an ADSL connection.

ADSL provides broadband internet access to 90% of the UK. Your internet connection is always available. You don't need to wait for the phone to dial and you can talk on the phone at the same time! You will need some extra hardware but it is between 5 and 160 times faster than dial-up, depending on the service used.

Dial-up is slower, can be cheaper and is available even where ADSL isn't.
